The Process
The next step in our graphic design journey in class was to learn Adobe Illustrator. One of the major projects required for this lesson is to make a newsletter about any topic we wanted. I chose flowers, naturally. The newsletter was going to be a four page spread, so we needed to distribute our content accordingly.
Page One

To start off, I wanted to put some interesting facts about my topic on the first page to draw people in, accompanied with a picture as an example. I also made sure to add what exotic flowers are considered, and gave a brief explanation. For my colors, I wanted to keep it natural.
Page Two
For the second page, I wanted to explain the most common locations that they grow in, being tropical/subtropical regions. Additionally, the two flowers listed for personal favorite are actually my dad’s favorites. I think incorporating that into my design made it extra special.

Page Three

On page three, I put a how-to guide on caring for exotic plants. The steps are pretty similar to any household plant, but specific species may require more direct care than others. I wanted to keep the color scheme natural, picking accent tones from the pictures used.
Page Four
To finish off the newsletter with the back page, I wanted to put a mailing list and a functional QR code as a call to action. Even though the back page spread doesn’t have as much detail as the other pages, I still think it is just as important, giving the receiver something to interact with.
